Do Picho is a non profit artist residency dedicated to the promotion of the freedom, creativity and safety of artists, as well as to the promotion and protection of human rights and the environment. It opened its doors in August 2024.

Do Picho’s main aims are:

• supporting artists in their art production, by offering them a space, safe environment, connections, and support;
• building a community of artists that will be provided, before, during and after their stay at Do Picho, with opportunities to interact, learn from each other, get inspired and inspire, and potentially collaborate;
• fostering connections between the artists that will be residing at Do Picho and Galician artists and the broader community in Galicia;
• contributing to the cultural life of Palas de Rei, Lugo, Santiago and Galicia, and to the experience of caminantes – the nearly 500,000 people yearly walking the Camino de Santiago, many of which pass through Palas de Rei.

Specifically, Do Picho supports artists and projects that engage with:

• environmental issues and their impact on people, worldwide and specifically in Galicia;
• LGBTQI issues;
• human rights more broadly.

For musicians, there is an additional interest: supporting them to engage with Galician music and musicians, and to create (and perform) music inspired by and/or with them.
